COMING SOON AT JEFF STREET:
Mark your calendars for Friday evening, May 15th from 6:30-8:30 to support our youth as they prepare for Youth Camp. This year we will be attending Be-Loved Youth Camp in the mountains of NC June 28-July 3. We're hosting a variety show as a fundraiser to help with funds for camp.
Do you have an act you'd like to share? Sign up here or let Amy or Katherine know:
Invite others to join us, I've attached the flyer here. We know it is short notice, but we hope to have a lovely crowd gathered in support. You'll also have a chance to learn a little more about BYC - a new camp experience for most of our youth.
Before this fun event you are also invited to these opportunities:
* Wednesday Night Potluck at 6:30 tomorrow - May 6th.
* Urban Goatwalker from 7-10 on Saturday - May 9th
* Worship at Jeff Street at 11ish on Sunday morning, May 10th.
* Worship and Potluck gathering with our sister congregation on Sunday at 6ishpm.
The Book Group will meet on Saturday, May 16 at 1:30 at the St. Matthews branch of the library. Instead of discussing a single book, we will be sharing some of our personal favorite books.
OTHER AREA OPPORTUNITIES:
Ongoing Moral Monday events in connection with the Kentucky Poor People's Campaign. Please contact Beth Robinson or Pastor Amy for more details.
1st 2 weeks of May -- in collaboration with the organization "For Lady's Sake" Jeff Street will be hosting an in-person and virtual donation drive to gather period supplies for those in need. We'll have a bin under the table at the top of the entry stairs, or you can donate directly though this Amazon link - just note that it is from Jeff Street. And we'll need a volunteer to deliver the donations to their event on May 16th. Let Amy know if this is something you'd like to assist with.
This past week, I took some time to go and participate with Grace Hope Presbyterian for their monthly senior food pantry. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month (May will be May 19th -- election day) -- we gather from around 12:30-2:30 to help distribute food to seniors. There's a bit of heavy lifting, but this is a great opportunity to connect with this beautiful congregation and support getting food to those in need.
CLOUT invites us to attend Metro Council Meetings on May 14th, June 11th and June 25th (the budget vote). The meetings start at 6pm, but we'll try to gather in the lobby at 5:30 to go in as a group. These meetings are opportunities to continue to make our voices heard as we advocate for funding for the Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund to add Permanent Supportive Housing to their list of priorities for Louisville.
Sunday, May 31st from 2-4pm, Grace Hope Presbyterian Church is hosting a Guns to Gardens event for members of the community to surrender any guns they no longer wish to own and they will be destroyed and the parts turned into jewelry and garden tools. If you know of someone who has a gun they no longer wish to have, please encourage them to bring it here. This is a voluntary surrender, not coercive at any level.
